(June 25, 2015 – Córdoba, Spain) Because of recent statements made in the press by the Córdoba Department of Culture rescinding their support for The International Film Music Festival of the Province of Córdoba, BSOSpirit Association is forced to postpone the 11th edition of which was scheduled be held July 19 to 26 in Córdoba, Spain.
After its founding and many years of wonderful performances in the city of Ubeda, The International Film Music Festival relocated to Córdoba in 2012. The relationship between the festival organizers and the Department of Culture has expanded to include not only the annual festival, but also several concert events in Córdoba, including the recent concert event The Passion of the Christ with its composer John Debney.
In spite of making statements in the press at the end of May, announcing that regardless of the result of the local elections in the province, that the city would support The International Film Music Festival, and in spite of being given the official go-ahead to formally announce the festival’s guest line-up in early June, The Department of Culture shortly thereafter began making statements in the press rescinding the city’s support for the festival, violating both the trust of the residents of Córdoba but also violating contracts signed with BSOSpirit Association and its representatives.
BSOSpirit Association therefore regretfully announces the postponement of the 11th edition of The International Film Music Festival. BSOSpirit Association will be announcing a new date and location for the 11th edition of the festival as soon as possible. The organization wishes to thank its supporters, fans, composers, musicians, and guests who have shown their continued support through this troubled time.
